The Camp

3 Channel Video / 22:55 min / Black and White / Sound / 2021

“The Camp” is a filmic journey of awakening and retrieval of lost memory through a meticulous recording of Svetlana Boym’s path in the urban ruins of a refugee camp outside Vienna where Boym stayed in 1981 during her immigration from Leningrad to Boston. The piece is shot by Zervos in a slow and up-close cut while images from the camp are juxtaposed with fragments of an Antonioni film.

“The Camp” was first presented in a solo show at MOMus (Museum of Contemporary Art Thessaloniki), curated by Syrago Tsiara.

“The Camp” was supported by NEON.
