HD video / 8:30 min / Black and White / Sound / 2013

“Nomadology (The Desert)” presents a woman’s journey (performed by Zervos) through a barren landscape carrying a large sack filled with grass and sod. Shot in the Atacama Desert and in volcanic landscapes, the relationships between nature and culture, home and exile are explored. Lines of Zervos’s poem “Brodsky’s Blanket” appear as subtitles to the film’s iconography.

“Nomadology (The Desert)” was first shown at Arts @ 29 Garden, Harvard University, 2013.
